How to import your survey (design)

ave time by importing an existing survey from Excel, CSV, or Word. Then customize and launch it in Standard Insights.

Updated over 3 months ago

If you already have a survey designed elsewhere, you can bring it into Standard Insights with just a few clicks. Import supports .xlsx, .csv, and .docx formats.

Step 1: Select “Import your survey”

From your dashboard:

  1. Click Create a Survey.

  2. Select Import your Survey.

Step 2: Upload your survey file

On the import page you can choose:

  • Import from Computer → upload directly from your device

  • Import from Media Library → use a file you’ve already uploaded to your Standard Insights account

Allowed formats: .xlsx, .csv, .docx

💡 Tip: Use clear column headers (like Question Text, Answer Options) if importing from Excel/CSV to make questions import more smoothly.

Step 3: Review imported questions

Once the file finishes uploading, you’ll see a confirmation message:

“Success! Your survey has been imported.”

On the right, you’ll see all questions recognized in your document. At this stage you can:

  • Select/unselect questions to include in your survey

  • Preview questions and answer formats

  • Re‑generate the import if something doesn’t look right

📘 Note: You cannot edit or change the question text here. Editing is only possible after you click Create Survey Now and enter the survey builder.

Step 4: Finalize and edit in the builder

When you’re satisfied with the imported questions:

  1. Click Create Survey Now.

  2. The survey will open in the builder, where you can:

    • Edit or re‑word questions

    • Add/remove questions

    • Apply logic, branching, and translations

    • Customize branding and preview the survey flow

Summary

  • Upload your file (.xlsx, .csv, .docx) to import an existing survey

  • Select/unselect, preview, or re‑generate questions before creating

  • Click Create Survey Now to enter the builder

  • Make edits, add logic, and finalize in the builder before launch
